“I can always reach out to my IHP team as a graduate — the support is incredible. Everyone wants to help each other. I’m so grateful to be part of this health and wellness community.”
From the Classroom to the Coaching Studio
For Genia Taub, her journey toward holistic wellness began long before she became a certified Integrative Health Practitioner.
“I started off as a school teacher in the 80s and 90s,” she shares. “Later, I ran an art history program for 12 years, taught fitness, and eventually owned my own studio called GET FIT.”
Her lifelong curiosity about how the body and mind work together led her to study at the Natural Gourmet Institute in New York City. She later deepened her studies in Ayurveda nutrition and yoga, becoming an E-RYT and YACEP yoga teacher, and a graduate of IHP Level 1.
Genia Taub and Her Deeply Personal Healing Journey
Genia’s passion for integrative health began with her own search for answers. “At a very young age, I had severe skin eczema,” she explains. “No doctor made the food and skin connection, so I did my own research.”
Through years of exploration, she discovered that food, stress, and lifestyle all influenced her health. “When I met a macrobiotic master teacher, my diet changed — and my skin cleared up. That’s when I knew this was my calling.”
Later in life, when faced with cancer, Genia once again turned to holistic healing. “I worked darn hard to heal,” she says. “I believed health was and is an inside job. That belief became my mission — to teach others the truth about healing physically, mentally, and spiritually.”
Finding Purpose as an Integrative Health Practitioner
Becoming an IHP Certified Health Coach transformed how Genia approaches wellness.
“IHP is very organized and I appreciate a well-run program,” she says. “There’s so much valuable information that I’m always going back to. I learned a lot of shared health advice from Dr. Cabral and other IHP graduates. Dr. Cabral is very well researched — his podcasts and Q&A’s are excellent.”
Genia continues to evolve through lifelong learning. “I’m constantly growing with my studies and mentors. I can always reach out to my IHP team as a graduate — the support is incredible. Everyone wants to help each other. I’m so grateful to be part of a health and wellness community.”
The Power of the DESTRESS Protocol
One of the core lessons that continues to shape her work is the DESTRESS Protocol, developed by Dr. Stephen Cabral.
“It’s not just about the diet,” Genia emphasizes. “A nutritionist will talk about food, but as an IHP, we understand that food is only one part of the healing process. Lifestyle encompasses a deep understanding of the body — where energy, stress, people, toxins, rest, deficiencies, excessiveness, and mindset all play a role.”
When working with clients, Genia integrates each of these elements into her coaching. “I include all of the above when I work with clients and with my own health. Healing is a lifestyle — not a list of restrictions.”
Genia Taub Lives and Teaches Gratitude
For Genia, gratitude is the foundation of health. “I wake up and my first words are, ‘I’m gratefully thankful to the living G-D for returning my soul within me with compassion.’ I take nothing for granted.”
This spirit of gratitude extends to her family and her approach to food. “I grew up with family dinners every night — it kept us close, loved, and well fed. There was respect, structure, and joy in our home,” she reflects.
Now, she continues the tradition with her own family. “With my husband and three boys, we have meals every Friday night — the door’s always open to friends. We talk, laugh, eat, and sometimes we sing. Life gets busy, but when we’re together, we make the effort to eat together. Sharing a meal is medicine for the soul.”
Ayurveda and the Art of Nourishment
A lifelong student of Ayurveda, Genia believes in the science of food as medicine. “Ayurveda is the sister science of yoga,” she says. “It’s about understanding digestion, food combining, and how to feel good after eating.”
She studied under an Ayurvedic chef and practitioner in New York City. “Dr. Cabral also studied Ayurveda, which drew me to IHPI. He modernized the principles, making them easy to understand for everyone.”
Her cookbook, Dinner Table Family Headquarters, which she co-wrote with her sisters, reflects this philosophy. “It’s more than recipes — it’s about connection, games, and family traditions that bring people back to the table. True nourishment goes far beyond food.”
Supporting Clients Through Authentic Coaching
When it comes to working with clients, Genia leads with compassion and clarity. “It’s not one size fits all,” she says. “I check in often, share resources, and make myself available. I know how powerful it is to find a coach who truly cares.”
Her approach begins with presence and understanding. “Healing is an inside job and a mindset,” she explains. “I start by learning about a client’s lifestyle and making small, manageable changes. Sometimes we even begin with a short meditation before diving in.”
Advice for Anyone Beginning Their Healing Journey
Genia’s advice for anyone seeking meaningful lifestyle change is both practical and empowering.
“Start small,” she encourages. “You don’t have to do everything at once. As Dr. Cabral teaches, the DESTRESS Protocol is key — because it’s about balance, not perfection.”
Her message is one of hope and evolution. “We can all grow. I’ve been through eczema, adrenal fatigue, and cancer, but I never saw myself as a victim. Every challenge shaped who I am. Clarity is the key to healing — and as a coach, it’s a privilege to share that clarity with others.”
